PHP and Laravel developer with technical leadership experience.

About Chris

I'm a PHP and Laravel developer based near Brighton, with experience across hands-on development, technical leadership, and system architecture.

I've been writing code since the late 90s, starting with small PHP scripts, hobby websites, and open-source projects. I taught myself what I needed as I went, sometimes the hard way, and got hooked on using code to automate things, solve problems, and build websites that people actually used.

Since moving into development professionally, I've worked in enterprise software, online learning, security research, social media, and fintech, in teams ranging from very small to rapidly scaling. My roles have grown from hands-on development into technical leadership and system architecture, but I still like being close to the code and working out the real problem before reaching for a solution.

I like collaborative teams, clear plans, and making decisions without getting stuck in them. If someone is blocked, I'd rather get on a call and solve it together than let them struggle alone; understanding the root cause matters more than assigning blame.

In my spare time, I enjoy following American football and baseball, and support the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay Rays, both based in Tampa, Florida.
